About the game
The Darker Night: Regent City is a single-player vampire society management game. Rule through a Court of named vampires, recruit mortals, connect hidden operations across city holdings, and balance five rival Ministries. Keep your people fed and concealed as your decisions reshape the city—and the reigns that follow.
From the Regent’s throne, an existing city becomes a network of people, places, and obligations. Claim buildings and appoint vampire managers. Connect their operations so one holding’s output supplies another: wash dirty tribute through daylight businesses, maintain hidden blood banks, gather leverage, or prepare cover for the Court’s activities.
Your vampires have talents, loyalties, relationships, and ambitions. Decide who manages a holding, who investigates a threat, and who remains available when the next crisis arrives. Recruit mortals into your service, choose who receives the Turning, and select the maker who helps shape the new vampire.
Expansion brings more than income. The Court needs Blood, the Ministries compete for power, and mortal witnesses can turn local harm into public suspicion. Investigate before ruling, make promises, and face consequences that return with a history. When a Regent falls, successfully turned vampires retain their identity and progression, and the successor inherits a city marked by earlier rule.
Key features
01
Connect operations across managed holdings. Turn dirty tribute into clean funds, sustain Blood supply, gather secrets, and prepare the cover and resources that later actions need.
02
Appoint managers and dispatch investigators with their own talents, loyalties, and relationships. Every assignment commits someone the Court may need elsewhere.
03
Bring mortals into the Court’s orbit, judge who receives immortality, and choose a maker. Successfully turned vampires carry their identity and progression into later reigns.
04
Navigate the interests of Force, Diplomacy, Shadows, Oracle, and Magi. The Regent survives by managing competing powers, not simply maximizing their approval.
05
Scout and acquire individual buildings, appoint their managers, strengthen holdings, and extend your reach. Geography, staffing, and connected supply routes shape what the Court can sustain.
06
Predation and coercion leave consequences at real addresses. Witnesses, investigations, and unrest demand time, resources, and difficult decisions.
07
Rulings, investigations, and promises create persistent story threads. Later matters can name the people, places, and decisions that caused them.
08
A Regent’s death changes the ruler, not the whole history. Continue with inherited vampires and lasting changes to holdings and the city.
